Rethinking Schools: Click Here for a Public Health Guided Return to Site-Based Classroom Instruction in the Age of-COVID-19

Health and Safety Protocols

The New Village School continues to be in close contact with the Department of Public Health and the Marin County Office of Education for the latest health and safety guidance regarding COVID-19.

Masks

Masks are now optional indoors and outdoors at the New Village School. Parents & students determine their own level of comfort in deciding whether to wear one or not.

Increased Ventilation

Our classrooms are equipped with fans and HEPA air filters that run throughout the day. All classrooms will also open windows and doors (as air quality and weather allows) to increase ventilation in the class space.

Students will eat meals outdoors or under our covered breezeway, weather permitting.

Stay Home When Sick!

Our students, teachers and staff are encouraged to stay home when sick. If a student displays symptoms of illness (see list below) while at school, a COVID test may be given (with parental permission) and will wait in an observation room until an approved adult arrives to pick them up.

  • Fever > 100.4
  • Headache
  • Cough
  • Chills
  • Muscle ache
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose and sneezing not attributable to allergies

Communication Plans

Our Public Health Liaison will communicate with parents & staff about any exposures at school through email.
